Leading marketing at SPS Commerce

Maria Pergolino is Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of SPS Commerce. According to the company's leadership page, she directs worldwide marketing strategy and execution, with a focus on growth, deeper customer engagement and positioning SPS as a leader in retail supply chain solutions. The page also describes her as an early leader in applying AI to marketing strategy and as a B2B marketing thought leader.[1]

SPS Commerce, headquartered in Minneapolis, describes itself as the world's leading retail network, connecting trading partners across retail, grocery, distribution, supply, manufacturing and logistics through cloud technology. In its fourth-quarter 2025 earnings release it reported full-year 2025 revenue of $751.5 million, up 18 percent from $637.8 million in 2024, recurring revenue growth of 20 percent, more than 50,000 recurring-revenue customers and 100 consecutive quarters of revenue growth. Its leadership page lists supply chain tools including EDI, order management, analytics and supplier performance.[5][1]

Early career: Chubb, Shunra and Marketo

Her Anaplan announcement in 2017 listed earlier demand-generation and marketing leadership roles at Shunra Software, which Hewlett-Packard later acquired, and at Chubb Ltd. It also credited her with a stint as senior director of marketing at Marketo, where her demand-generation work contributed to very rapid growth. A later ActiveCampaign release says she ran performance marketing and content at Marketo.[3][4]

Apttus

Before Anaplan she was senior vice president of global marketing and sales development at Apttus, responsible for go-to-market strategy, sales development, customer advocacy, demand generation, events and communications. ActiveCampaign's 2019 announcement says she spent five years in that role while Apttus grew from about 100 to more than 1,200 employees and its revenue rose more than tenfold.[3][4]

Anaplan

Anaplan named her chief marketing officer on December 7, 2017. The cloud planning company, then privately held and based in San Francisco, said it offered a connected-planning platform with 18 offices and more than 150 partners worldwide, and chief executive Frank Calderoni called her a skilled team builder with a strong record of success. ActiveCampaign later said she helped with Anaplan's S-1 filing and its IPO.[3][4]

ActiveCampaign

On October 8, 2019, ActiveCampaign announced her as its first chief marketing officer, saying she would relocate from San Francisco to its Chicago headquarters. The company described itself as a customer experience automation provider with international business making up 55 percent of revenue and new offices in Sydney and Dublin within the prior 18 months.[4]

In a Databox interview recorded about five weeks into the job, she said she had been weighing several marketing-technology CMO offers and chose ActiveCampaign because its strongest focus was on its product and customer experience rather than its marketing. Her plan, she said, was to communicate the company's existing strengths, including its customer base, market standing and partner community, more consistently, and to put more emphasis on brand in the following year.[4][6]

Conga, Scale Venture Partners and SPS

SPS Commerce lists chief marketing officer at Conga among her roles, as it does Anaplan and ActiveCampaign. Scale Venture Partners lists her as a board member, advisor and investor and the SPS page names her as its lead operational advisor for B2B technology companies before SPS, with Scale describing her as known for building world-class go-to-market teams.[1][2]

Scale's profile credits her with almost two decades of senior marketing leadership in global B2B technology and lists expertise in customer advocacy, demand generation, account-based marketing, strategic events, sales development and marketing communications, with a focus on the Salesforce, Microsoft and Adobe ecosystems.[2]

Education and recognition

Pergolino holds a bachelor of science and an MBA in marketing from Rutgers University and has completed executive education at Stanford and Wharton. Anaplan's announcement noted a Stevie Award for Women Executives and membership of the Forbes Communications Council, and listed her on several B2B marketing lists, including influential women in B2B marketing technology and marketing game changers.[1][3]

Why she matters

Pergolino has led marketing at a succession of fast-scaling B2B software companies, including one that went public during her tenure, and she now does so at a public network business that sells to both retailers and their suppliers. Her career shows the typical route of a modern CMO: demand generation first, then brand, then company-wide go-to-market leadership.[1][3][4]
